About Us

CYPA has delivered social and formal educational services to the black and minotiy ethnic community primarily in Southwark but also neighbouring boroughs for over 26 years. The association has provided a variety of services to meet the identified needs of the community. These services have included; Holiday Playschemes for children from low income households. The Alphabet Pre-School (TAPS), is provided with support from BBC Children in Need and Help a London Child. Working with children 2-5 years whose parents participate on the Teachers Aide Scheme.

The Teachers Aide Scheme is designed to give trainees practical and theoretical experience in Teaching and Child Development. The association Provides After School Classes for school aged children originally with support from City Parochial. The association also delivers the Face To Face Connections project with formal education classes in (Numeracy, Literacy, ITC, Science & Sports Leadership) also Careers Guidance to children aged 13 - 19 from Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth and Croydon who are Not in Education, Employment or Training, (NEET).

The aim of the full time education project is to provide programmes to meet the educational needs of young people self referred or by schools and other agencies. To provide full time education (up to 27.5hrs pw) covering the core areas of basic skills Literacy, Numeracy and Sports Leadership as well as ICT & Science. Where appropriate, to offer reintegration and back to school support or other pathways for young people on the project.
